The Bautzen Z2 German Full Pack includes 14 cars from which 8 have been previously operated by German railroad operator Deutsche Bahn (DB) and its predecessor, Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR), and 6 six cars operated by German private operator Alex, formerly known as Arriva Landerbahn Express.
Starting with the original Z2 ABme car manufactured at the Waggonbau Bautzen factory in Germany, which was used as a test platform for the later „Langen Halberstädter“ cars, the prototype is available in 3 distinct paint schemes: the original 1975 factory livery with fawn brown body and orange sliding doors, the 1978 orange/grey body with black chassis paint scheme, very similar to the ABwümz 227 prototype, and the Ame conversion from 1982, painted in a City Express livery.
The vintage part of the pack is completed with the air-conditioned, open compartment, high capacity Z2 “Komfortwagen” used mainly on the “Progress” I-EX trains from Berlin to Prague, being retired after only a few years in service, just like their younger variants, the InterRegio Amz210, ABomz229 and Bomz cars, that were the last new cars ordered by Deutsche Reichsbahn.
Three of the Alex cars are of the ABvmz type, which was converted from the former Amz 210 InterRegio coaches purchased from DB around 2006 and modernized for Alex in 2007 by Halberstadt. Four compartments were modernized into 1st and 2nd class, a multi-purpose room was set up, and a disabled toilet and air conditioning were installed. Three of the 20 former Amz 210 express coaches purchased from DB were not converted into ABvmz but modified as un-air-conditioned 2nd class compartment cars by simply reworking the old equipment in the design of the new Alex.
Five of the coaches feature the current-day blue-white color scheme, some in new and others in used condition, while one features the original Alex scheme (white-blue-red) which was used at the time before switching over to the current-day scheme.
Today they are mostly used on trains between Oberstdorf/Lindau and Munich and between Regensburg and Hof/Plzeň (Czech Republic)
The pack contains the following 14 coaches:

Really great coaches, many thanks 🙂 One thing I miss a bit though is the specfic train sound / “track joints” sound (Clickety Clack?) Like there is on for instance the Romanian DWA package(s). Can this be updated or is it usually absent/not heard in these type of coaches? thanks in advance!

Hello Martijn, thank you for your feedback. Usually the tracks in Germany are welded, so the joint sounds are not very specific to that region. This is the reason we have opted, not to include them.

Hi Zsolti, thanks for the info, thats a nice detail to know! I love the track joint sound, but indeed on newer welded tracks this is most realistic! Thanks and best regards Martijn
