Step aboard a classic era of Austrian long-distance rail travel with this collection of ÖBB first-class passenger coaches. Featuring several SGP and Eurofima-based variants, the pack captures the development of Austrian express stock from the late 1970s through to the modernisation of the fleet.

Developed by Simmering-Graz-Pauker (SGP) as part of Austria’s involvement in the Eurofima programme, these UIC-Z coaches were built for demanding international service. Their construction combined spacious interiors and passenger comfort with the performance required for high-speed express trains. Air conditioning, modern onboard facilities, and SGP-VS-RIC or FIAT 0270S bogies enabled these coaches to operate across international routes at speeds of up to 200 km/h.

The collection includes a variety of first-class configurations, each representing a different stage in the coaches’ long service lives. Among them are the traditional compartment-style Amz coaches, refurbished ABmz variants, the open-plan Ampz saloon coaches, and the unique ASmz premium-service vehicle. Several rebuilt interiors are also represented, including layouts combining four compartments with a passenger saloon, as well as specialised configurations featuring conference areas.

For decades, these coaches formed an important part of ÖBB’s InterCity, EuroCity, and international express services, connecting Austria with major destinations throughout Europe. Their distinctive appearance, dependable performance, and high level of passenger comfort established them as an important part of Austria’s long-distance railway fleet.

From recreating classic international expresses of the 1980s and 1990s to assembling more contemporary ÖBB formations, this pack provides a detailed selection of first-class coaches suited to a wide range of Austrian and European passenger services.
