REPAINT MÁV 480-009-4 Kajla

This is a repaint on the Bombardier TRAXX BR185.2 electric locomotive operated by the Hungarian National Railway MÁV. The locomotive was delivered to MÁV in 2011 in a classic blue-yellow scheme with a yellow stripe and it’s purpose was to replace the V43 series in domestic intercity services. MÁV-Start debuted this new promotional livery on the TRAXX MAV 480-009 in 2019. This new design is supporting a national tourist campaign, aimed at students. The name of the initiative is ‘Kajla’ and its goal is to invite children to explore the country while traveling. MÁV and GYSEV are involved by providing free transport to kids that have a ‘Kajla passport’.

Funny detail: ‘Kajla’ is also the name of the cute puppy dog, which can be seen on the locomotive livery.

These locomotives are often used to pull special trains to Şumuleu Ciuc (or Csíksomlyó). It is part of Catholic pilgrimage to this little town in Romania. In recent years, following a deal between the Romanian National Railway (CFR) and MÁV, a number of TRAXX locomotives enter Romania and continue their journey to Bucharest and even Constanta, without changing locomotives at the border, which saves up precious time in the tight schedule of these services.
