The CFR DWA Sleeping Cars represent some of the most comfortable and recognizable overnight coaches to operate on Romania’s railway network. Built by Deutsche Waggonbau (DWA) Görlitz in Germany during the early 1990s, these UIC-Z sleeping cars were acquired by CFR Călători for international and long-distance overnight services, providing modern accommodation for journeys across Romania and into neighbouring European countries.

Originally delivered as the 71-80 series, the coaches featured eleven passenger compartments with three berths each, GP200 S high-speed bogies, and were designed for operation at speeds of up to 160 km/h. Between 2004 and 2011, many vehicles underwent extensive modernization at Atelierele CFR Grivița in Bucharest, receiving air-conditioning, vacuum toilets, upgraded electrical equipment, and refurbished interiors before being reclassified as the 71-70 series.

This pack includes both the original 71-80 coaches and their modernized 71-70 counterparts, allowing you to recreate overnight services from the 1990s through to the present day.
